Cannonsville Reservoir. Cannonsville Reservoir is an artificial lake in Delaware County, New York State, USA. It is one of four reservoirs operated by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) that provide drinking water to New York City and some surrounding areas. Cannonsville Reservoir is created by the Cannonsville Dam, which was completed in 1964 and is located on the West Branch of the Delaware River. The reservoir has a capacity of 95.7 billion gallons of water and covers a surface area of 10.4 square miles. It is used for fishing, boating, hiking, and other recreational activities, and is also an important source of hydroelectric power
